Historically, women have had very few breast screening options regarding their breast health. And while most women have been using the traditional screening options of mammography and self-exams over the past few decades, breast cancer statistics have actually worsened.

Most women are so busy taking care of everyone else – their children, spouses, partners, elderly parents – they barely have time to do what’s needed to stay well themselves, including scheduling their yearly mammogram. The American Cancer Society, the Official Sponsor of Birthdays, wants all California women to take steps to reduce their breast cancer risk. In fact, one out of every two women turn to the Society for help and support following their breast cancer diagnosis.

According to the U.S. Department of Education, there are approximately six million children in America today who are receiving “special education.” One out of every 10 children under the age of 14 has some type of special need, which includes any physical, cognitive, or medical disability, or chronic or life-threatening illness, such as Down Syndrome, autism, or cerebral palsy.
